The moment I dipped a well toasted crouton into a melted wheel of smokey brie cheese, I was sold. It rocked my cheese board world. I found this gooey trend one night while mindlessly scrolling social media instead of falling asleep. I then adapted it to suit my palette and now I'm sharing it with you
Baked brie has become the latest sensation and since not everyone has bbq weather available at the moment, I've adapted this recipe for your Air fryer also
Spicy BBQ Baked Brie with Honey
Ingredients:
- 1 wheel of brie cheese
- 1 teaspoon melted butter
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves
- 1 teaspoon fresh rosemary (finely chopped)
- chilli flakes
- optional walnuts
- crackers or sliced baguette, for serving
Instructions:
- Fire your bbq up to 350°F (180°C).
- Place the brie wheel on a piece of tin foil large enough to wrap the cheese in
- Cut a thin layer off the top of the brie to reveal the creamy cheese
- Score the cheese from the top but do not cut all the way through it.
- Drizzle the melted butter and honey over the top of the brie so it soaks into the cheese.
- Sprinkle fresh thyme, finely chopped rosemary and chilli flakes over.
- Place the top part of the brie back on and close the foil so it creates a parcel to put on the hot smokey bbq.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the cheese is soft and gooey.
- optional: sprinkle roughly chopped walnuts onto the brie to add texture.
- Allow it to cool slightly before serving with crackers or sliced baguette.
This recipe can also be done in an Air fryer but for a smokier taste of summer, do it on that outside barbie.
